Our story

Calais refugee camp

Welcome to HOBI Betternuts - where unique flavors meet a meaningful mission.

The journey began after 18 months of volunteering with refugees in Calais - across the English Channel - fueled by the desire to continue supporting those charities on the ground. In every jar, we spread change, breaking down stereotypes and embracing love inspired by the diverse cultures we encountered. We believe in the unifying power of a spoonful of nut butter.

Indulge in the richness of our nut butters crafted from the finest, high-quality ingredients. Our suppliers are experts at growing and finding the best produce. We work with local or organic farmers to get the best nuts, and with an incredible team of sailors who provides us with the stupendous Colombian cacao that sets our creations apart.

At HOBI, we take pride in crafting products that go beyond the ordinary:

  • Made with plant-based ingredients
  • 0% refined sugars
  • 100% vegan
  • Changemakers
  • Made with love

Immerse yourself in a symphony of flavor and quality, where each jar is a testament to the relentless pursuit of excellence in every element of our craft. Making a difference one jar at a time.

Do you ship out of the UK?

Unfortunately at the moment we don't ship out of the UK. We offer free delivery on UK orders over £45!
We are on the hunt for a solution for international shipping, so feel free to contact us if you're a shipping company.

Where do you source your nuts from?

We work with farmers focused on sustainability, who deliver the highest quality produce. Our cobnuts are British, our cashews come from organic and fair trade farmers in Goa, India, and we source the rest of our nuts from Spain, Greece and Italy.

Conscious consumption is at the core of our business.

Are all of your nut butters vegan?

YES! A proud vegan business.

What is carob?

Carob, not carrot, is the sweet bean from a carob tree. Shaped like elongated pods, the beans are naturally sweet and are dark in colour when ripe and ready to be harvested.

Carob originated in the Middle East, but nowadays you can find it throughout the Mediterranean basin, especially in Portugal, Spain and Morocco.

Try our almond and carob spread!

What charities do you support?

Every jar you buy makes a difference to grassroots in Calais, France, that do remarkable humanitarian work.

We donate 10% of our profits to Mobile Refugee Support. Discover their work and maybe volunteer with them! Find more here.

Why did my nut butter become hard?

This depends on the storage temperature. We recommend keeping your nut butter out of the fridge to avoid the natural oils in the nuts to go solid. Think of nut butter like chocolate or coconut oil/butter! The colder the temperature, the harder it will get.
